Everything To Know About Attack on Titan The Final Season
The Rumbling has begun, and fans are anxiously awaiting AOT's epic conclusion to see who will survive in the end.
After The Big Three, Attack on Titan is arguably the only shonen action anime to rile the fandom up. Hajime Isayama's culmination of a catastrophe-stricken dystopia took the world by storm and became one of the most popular anime of the modern era. After almost 88 episodes distributed across four seasons and multiple parts, the Titan saga is coming to an end later in 2023. The reason why AoT is such a hit is not because it has an overpowered MC or over-the-top action – the beauty of this anime is its complicated yet well-crafted plot, political maneuvering, and realistic characters. The show keeps the audience on the edge of their seats because no character is safe in Attack on Titan.
It's the final round in Attack on Titan, and it's Eren Yeager against the rest of the world. After discovering his lineage, the atrocities committed against the Eldians, and realizing that the world would never change their minds about Eldians, Eren snapped. With the power of the Founding Titan within him, Eren unleashed The Rumbling upon the world so that he could keep his promise and destroy all their enemies. Eren's plan is in motion and there doesn’t seem to be anything anyone can do to stop him.
When Will Attack On Titan the Final Part Release?
AoT is MAPPA's legacy and one of the studio's most successful anime series. It was announced that The Final Season will feature a three-part story, two of which have already wowed the fans. Attack on Titan Season 4 Final Chapter Special 1, Part 3 aired on March 3, 2023, as episode 88. The Final Chapter Special 2 trailer was released on July 2, 2023, which is only a 40-second tease into this decade's most highly anticipated finale. Unfortunately, fans have only been treated to a teaser, and there's no announcement for Episode 2's release date as of yet. However, it's rumored that the saga is meant to conclude sometime in Fall 2023.
Instead of dividing the final season into several small episodes, MAPPA has decided to give fans an epic experience by completing the anime series through more than an hour of action, plot twists, and even tears. The final episode is meant to adapt the final chapters of the manga, which has also ended. The only question the fans are asking now is who is going to win in the end. Considering the lore of AoT, there's no such thing as a happy ending in this world. There's no going back for anyone, especially Eren, and his reign of terror has just begun.
How Many Parts Are There in Attack On Titan The Final Season?
Surprisingly, AoT Seasons 3 and 4 are spread out over almost three years. Seasons 1 and 2 were full seasons consisting of several episodes that were released weekly, but the series broke into multiple parts in the last two seasons. Even though The Final Chapters have been split into longer episodes going over an hour, they're not movies. It could've been an epic exit for the series to have its ending aired as a feature film, but the worldwide phenomenon needs no grand marketing. Attack on Titan aired its first season in 2013, consisting of 25 episodes, after which it went on a four-year hiatus.
The show returned in 2017 with another 12 episodes and came back in 2019 with a 22-episode third season, which was also split into two parts. Attack on Titan Season 4 is distributed across three parts, with the third further divided into two parts. In short, the final season has a total of 29 episodes. The award-winning manga ended back in 2021, and the anime adaptation is most likely releasing the finale in a 3 part special because there are only 5 more chapters left, which isn't enough material for a full season. Rather than deviating from the source material and giving fans an underwhelming goodbye, the writers have chosen to comit to its original ending.
How Will Attack on Titan Potentially End?
AoT Special 1 left things with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger as Eren started The Rumbling. With the powers of the Founding Titan, Eren woke up the countless Colossal Titans making up the walls of Paradis Island. After learning about Ymir and the suffering Eldians endured, Eren has set out to end this cycle once and for all. To him, that is only achievable after the destruction of everything outside Paradis Island. The only thing standing between him and world annihilation are his friends. Ironically, people who fought against each other for centuries will be putting their differences aside to survive The Rumbling.
The coalition forces between Marley and Paradis will try to put some sense into Eren, but it seems that he's far from being redeemed and reachable in his Titan form. He has already told his friends he won't take away their free will. Fan-favorite characters like Hange and Floch have already bit the dust in the Special 1 episode, and considering that AoT doesn't even flinch killing off likable characters, the fandom might be in one heck of a heartbreak.
