How Many People Denzel Washington's Robert McCall Kills In The Equalizer Movies

In The Equalizer franchise, Denzel Washington plays Robert McCall, a former U.S. Marine and DIA officer who takes vigilante justice to a new level.

Denzel Washington's Robert McCall has racked up a high kill count in The Equalizer franchise. Meant to be a trilogy of films, the first Equalizer movie premiered in 2014, with the sequel following four years later. The prolific crime-fighter never ceases to impress, whether he's dual-wielding pistols, tricking enemies into electrocuting themselves, or taking down foes with a nail gun from his Boston-based hardware store.

Despite the number of people's killed across two movies, McCall isn't in the business of murder or vigilante justice. Instead, he uses his skills to help innocent people escape harrowing situations. In the first film, for example, he befriends a young woman (Chloë Grace Moretz), who's later revealed to be a victim of the Russian mob's human trafficking ring. In The Equalizer 2, things take a more personal turn when McCall hunts down those responsible for his friend's murder. While it's not clear what, exactly, The Equalizer 3 and Denzel Washington will deliver, it'll no doubt force him into a similar predicament. Regardless of their plot points, The Equalizer movies are slick, action-packed outings with an entertainment value so high it rivals McCall's franchise kill count.

Robert McCall Kills 19 People In The Equalizer

Although he doesn't end up directly killing Russian mob boss Vladimir Pushkin (Vladimir Kulich) or a few other now-deceased characters, a whopping 19 kills in The Equalizer belong to Denzel Washington's Robert McCall (via Fandom). Given that the film features 24 total deaths, that's a pretty impressive number for the character. Moreover, no two kills are the same. The first few are in-line with other action flicks: McCall stabs, slashes, and shoots the unnamed mobster thugs who stand in his way. There's even an off-screen execution thrown into the mix. However, things get more inventive in the last third of The Equalizer.

The Equalizer 2 sees Denzel Washington's Robert McCall taking up gig work: not only is he a gun for hire, but he drives for Lyft. After his friend and former DIA colleague Susan (Melissa Leo) is murdered, McCall hunts down her killers, discovering that Dave York (Pedro Pascal), Susan's former partner, is a vengeful, anti-government mercenary who stabbed Susan to death. York and his three-man squad garner a collective seven kills throughout The Equalizer 2.

Although McCall's sequel kill count of nine kills pales in comparison to his first outing, he still boasts the most in the film (via allouttabubblegum.com). Not to mention, The Equalizer 2's ending is adrenaline-pumping and features inventive kills: the vigilante protagonist finishes off his enemies with a speargun, knives, and even a flour explosion trap. All things considered, Robert McCall's The Equalizer total kill count currently stands at 28, but is sure to balloon once the third installment releases.
