Peacock Shares the Staircase Fight Sequence from The Continental: From the World of John Wick

Peacock shares an intense opening fight sequence from The Continental, as the spin-off expands the John Wick universe.

Starz and Peacock have released a sneak peek from the first episode of The Continental: From the World of John Wick.

The 4-minute opening scene showcases a gripping fight sequence from the upcoming John Wick spin-off series, as it attempts to mimic the essence of the original. The clip features Ben Robson as Winston Scott's brother Frankie, entangled in a high-stakes heist within the titular hotel's vault. The clip can be viewed in full below, courtesy of Peacock on YouTube.

In a dramatic showdown of gunfire and some impressive martial arts moves, accurately depicting the John Wick films, viewers witness Frankie skillfully fighting an army of goons, as he tries to climb up the stairwell of the hotel, having stolen a mysterious MacGuffin. Seizing an opportunity for escape, Frankie jumps out through a window of a higher floor, as he lands on the ground, having injured himself. The clip includes numerous instances of long cuts, as well as a radio operator commentating on the event, after a supposed bounty on Frankie's head.

The Continental Goes Back to the 70s

Set against the gritty backdrop of 1970s New York, the prequel series will revolve around a young Winston, portrayed by Colin Woodell, and the hotel's concierge Charon, played by Ayomide Adegun, as they embark on a mission to gain control of the Continental from the clutches of crime lord Cormac, portrayed by Mel Gibson. The two come across various contract killers within Lionsgate's assassin universe, to ultimately secure the throne which awaits them in the future. Connected through the famed hotel, the saga goes back four decades prior to John Wick's inception in 2014.

The high-octane introduction scene was masterfully choreographed by stuntman and action director Larnell Stovall, who aimed to set the stage for what appears to be an electrifying journey. Director Albert Hughes also teased an ensemble of characters, each with their own significant roles to play in the saga.

Also joining Woodell, Adegun, and Robson in the series' ensemble cast are Mishel Prada, Peter Greene, Jessica Allain, Nhung Kate, Marina Mazepa, Ray McKinnon, Jeremy Bobb, Katie McGrath, Mark Musashi, and Adam Shapiro. The John Wick franchise will further expand in 2024 with the film Ballerina, while a fifth film with Keanu Reeves is being considered with no confirmations as of now.

The Continental: From the World of John Wick will be streaming on Peacock from Sept. 22.
