REPORT: House of the Dragon Season 2 Premiere's Title and Plot Revealed

According to reports, House of the Dragon's upcoming Season 2 may have gotten an accurate title for Episode 1.

At this point last year, the world had already witnessed the first half of the inaugural season of HBO's highly acclaimed fantasy drama, House of the Dragon.

However, as of now, the much anticipated second season of the Game of Thrones prequel is nowhere near its premiere, or even the marketing. Featuring a stellar cast including Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, and Olivia Cooke, the upcoming season, which will consist of only eight episodes, is nearing its final stages of production at Leavesden Studios, which is set to conclude filming by the end of September.

The first season ended on a high note as Prince Aemond's dragon, Vhagar, killed Rhaenyra Targaryen and Ser Laenor Velaryon's son, Prince Lucerys "Luke" Velaryon. As per reports, fans can now catch a glimpse of what's in store, as recent reports reveal the season premiere's plot line. Titled "A Son for a Son," the episode takes its name from a crucial event in George R. R. Martin's book, Fire and Blood, which serves as the main source of the adaptation.

In the said scene, Daemon Targaryen writes a letter to Rhaenyra to respond to the tragic loss of her son. In the original text, Daemon's stark and direct message teases his upcoming act of vengeance: "An eye for an eye, a son for a son. Lucerys will be avenged." Since the character remains in Dragonstone with his wife, it is possible that he will deliver the lines in person instead of by letter.

Daemon's act sets into motion a notorious turn of events, introducing two new characters, Blood and Cheese, who are tasked to infiltrate the Red Keep and carry out a dark deed, i.e., to murder one of Ming Aegon's sons. Since the actors Sam C. Wilson and Mark Stobbart, have already been confirmed to be playing the two new characters, it is assumed that the series will indeed stick to this plot point from the book.

Reported Changes Are Being Made From the Source Material

Reports also suggest that even though the details surrounding Daemon's immediate actions remain a mystery, he will likely sneak inside King's Landing at night, to recruit the suitable person to perform the act. If true, this will mark a departure from the source material which does not depict Daemon's direct contact with the duo. Speculations further suggest that Daemon might enlist the aid of his former lover Mysaria, to assemble a team capable of executing the grim task at hand, though Daemon's history as Commander of the Gold Cloaks may have already acquainted him with Cheese.

Incidentally, the production team was recently spotted while filming a scene in Caceres, which seemed to be the funeral of Prince Jaehaerys, since the character's grandmother and Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower, and mother Helaena Targaryen, can be seen in an open carriage. Since the prince is alive as of the Season 1 finale, Daemon and Rhaenyra's act will likely be successful.
