How Loki Sets Up the TVA's Future & Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Loki Season 2 ends on a shocking note, laying down important building blocks for the Time Variance Authority and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

With the conclusion of Loki Season 2, fans have been treated to one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most mind-bending stories. Here, Tom Hiddleston's run as Loki (as the actor claims) seems to come to an end after 14 years with Marvel Studios. It also happens in the most shocking way in the Disney+ TV series.

Loki's newfound glorious purpose finds him fixing the Sacred Timeline, saving the Time Variance Authority (TVA), and stringing the Multiverse back together. He also ensures He Who Remains isn't revived, while setting his peers -- namely, Mobius and Sylvie -- free. However, there are key threads left hanging that tease what the TVA's future could be, as well as the temporal trouble to come in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Victor Timely's Story Isn't Finished

There's no denying the MCU has to contend with Jonathan Majors' legal issues. But if Kevin Feige and his creative team press forth with Majors, Victor Timely still has a lot of stories to tell. Loki's adjustment of the Temporal Loom ensures Ravonna Renslayer isn't around to give a young Victor the TVA guide to influence his own work. As such, Victor doesn't become a twisted Kang variant. Thus, the final shot of him has him living at home in the 1800s in Chicago quite happy.

That's not to say he won't continue being a genius inventor. With the timeline still unpredictable, some theorists think Victor could be abducted by other Kangs to find out who or what the TVA really is. There's also time for the Kangs to meddle with the timestream, and turn him evil like the majority of them. A portion of diehard comic book fans even think this Victor Timely could end up having a remixed Nathaniel Richards arc from Young Avengers. He could end up being Iron Lad from the books, fighting off destiny as a Kang and hoping to do some good by jumping to the future to help the junior version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. It's very much a stark possibility after The Marvel's explosive ending had Kamala Khan recruiting the Young Avengers.

Ravonna Renslayer Could Return for Revenge

Loki's Season 2 finale has Loki and Sylvie pruning Renslayer, so they could stop her from taking over the TVA. Renslayer ends up in the Void where the time monster, Alioth, roars. This implies she may end up devoured. The former TVA Judge fought this beast in the comics, but seeing as she had feelings for He Who Remains in the show, there's a chance she survives the creature. One also has to factor in the unpredictable nature Miss Minutes. If Minutes left a failsafe to become evil again after her TVA reprogramming, she could help Renslayer escape and traverse the timestream.

Both wanted control away from the shadow of He Who Remains, creating the possibility for Renslayer to evolve into the Terminatrix or find another more brutal version of herself, Revelation. Gugu Mbatha-Raw has been great as Renslayer, so it would be very wise to explore more of these variants from the comics. Most importantly, it would give her agency away from men seeking control. He Who Remains did mind-wipe her, after all, and used her as a TVA puppet. Thus, the opportunity's there for Renslayer to strike back and reshape reality the way she feels it should be -- an arc that would match the source material when she backstabbed Kang and tried to usurp his rewriting of reality.

The TVA Is Poised to War With the Kangs

As the TVA is rebooted, Mobius says that the fabric of reality is intact. The Kang Conquerer from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is dead, and now, the TVA has an advantage in that the Council of Kangs isn't aware of the TVA's existence. This sets the stage for a space-time war, with the TVA needing to start hunting these figures down and pruning them proactively. It has all the ingredients to be the foundation for 2026's The Kang Dynasty. This would give OB, Casey and B-15 a new job, not to mention, the likes of X-5 could seek redemption by helping the TVA hunt more rogue Kangs.

The Kangs wouldn't like being blindsided like this, however. They could go after the likes of Victor and Renslayer to find out more about the TVA. Plus, there is a unique chance they will capture TVA agents that come after them to find out more about their unseen enemies. In that sense, the TVA's plan could easily backfire. Should the Kangs destroy or enslave the TVA thereafter, it would kick off the Multiversal War He Who Remains warned of. Furthermore, it would lead to rifts, incursions and fights that play into what Secret Wars will be about: worlds colliding and dying. The current MCU narrative, per The Marvels' post-credits, is already leaning into this idea of incursions. It thus feels like the TVA feuding with the Kangs will be the catalyst for the Avengers seeking to cull or arrest the Kangs, especially once Scott Lang's team reveals the details about their fight.
