Blue Beetle Star Xolo Maridueña Is Hoping for a Cobra Kai Reunion after 30 Years

Blue Beetle lead Xolo Maridueña speaks about Cobra Kai Season 6 and looks forward to a 30th-anniversary reunion with everyone involved in the series.

Xolo Maridueña is grateful to be part of Cobra Kai five seasons in, and with the sixth and final season incoming, he hopes to reunite with the cast in 30 years to reminisce.

Maridueña feels like "the party is ending" with Cobra Kai nearing the end of its series run. He regarded his experience with the show fondly in an interview with V Magazine, saying they were blessed to have the show end on its own terms. He also hoped for the opportunity to reunite with everyone and maybe do a follow-up show in 30 years. He said, "We're so grateful to have done six seasons, that's crazy. And I just hope that we get to reunite in 30 years and do, you know, Cobra Kai v2 or whatever that looks like. I love those guys."

It seems the actor is already looking back at his time in Cobra Kai with nostalgia, even as fans anticipate the final season of the show to be released. The actor is gratefully enjoying a career highlight with Blue Beetle, but was quick to point out that his role in Cobra Kai significantly contributed to his current success. "To be honest, it feels like it's taken 20 years of my life to really be able to handle something like this," he said, referring to his TV-to-film transition.

Mixed Emotions With Cobra Kai Ending

Maridueña also admitted having the lead role in the show was perfect timing, saying, "I think Cobra Kai came at a time that was really necessary – the character was 16, I was 16, and I felt like I kind of grew up with it. And now I've grown up, and I don't want to say out [of] per se, but I feel like I've moved into a new chapter." Aside from starring in Blue Beetle, the actor also made it to 2022's Forbes 30 Under 30 list. He has mixed emotions about Cobra Kai's final season impending. He said, "It is bittersweet. It definitely is… So, I just hope that I get to work with them again."

There's good reason for the actor to hope. While Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz revealed it was the showrunners who decided the series would end in Season 6, spinoffs will likely follow given the show's breakout success. Hurwitz even teased the stories told beyond Cobra Kai's key characters will be expansions of the "Miyagiverse." A spinoff film to the series is reportedly in development, to be released next year.

Cobra Kai Season 6 is pending release, but Seasons 1 to 5 available to stream on Netflix. Blue Beetle is now showing in theaters.
