Does The Nun 2 Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Director Michael Chaves continues the story of Valak in The Nun II, leaving fans curious if there's a post-credits to expand this demonic story.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Hollywood this year has been the swath of horror movies. Fans have seen the possession and exorcism genre hit fever pitch with the likes of Evil Dead Rise. Not to mention, movies like The Pope's Exorcist tried a new spin on demons taking hold of kids. It whets the appetites for The Exorcist: Believer later this year.

Of course, one can't forget the Conjuring-Verse, which is setting the stage for a fourth movie featuring the Warrens. Well, director Michael Chaves is back after The Curse of La Llorona and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, but this time he's detailing the story of Valak in The Nun II. Many thought the first Nun film wrapped things by connecting to the first Conjuring film, but this sequel helps bridge that gap. And make no mistake, for those who think there isn't a post or mid-credits scene to keep fleshing out the universe, well, they're in for a pleasant surprise.

The Nun II Does Have a Mid-Credits Scene

The concept of creative add-ons once credits roll was revived by Marvel Studios with 2008's Iron Man. It brought Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and The Avengers Initiative into play. DC also used post-credits scenes, with The Flash having Barry Allen and Aquaman getting drunk at a bar after Barry's multiverse adventure. Some comic book movies, like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, didn't use extra scenes, though.

As for Hollywood franchises outside the superhero arena, a few use these scenes as well. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is a prime example, bringing Shredder into play. However, the likes of Barbie and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One opted against. Well, The Nun II decides to tack on key frames in the credits that build into a brief sequence with familiar faces in this horror ream. As such, fans should wait around and delay heading to the exits, washrooms or concessions.

The first Nun film focused on Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, fighting off Valak in Saint Cartha's monastery in Romania. While she thought she banished the demon with the blood of Christ, the film ended with Frenchie being marked by Valak, and later on, seen infecting Lorraine Warren during a botched exorcism to tie into The Conjuring. This second film will add more prologue to Frenchie's story, bringing Irene back to save his soul and free him from being Valak's vessel.

They'll be meeting up at a French boarding school, where Valak continues its sinister mission, hurting kids and just about anyone around. Once more, Irene will have to dig deep, channel her faith and try to save a Frenchie who saved her the first time around. This time, she'll have active help in the shape of Storm Reid as Sister Debra as they try to banish the ghoul back to Hell. All while hopefully ensuring Frenchie doesn't end up dead in this latest battle between good and evil.
