JJK: Yuji Itadori Voice Actor Junya Enoki Tests Positive for COVID-19

Voice actor Junya Enoki, who plays series protagonist Yuji Itadori in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, announces he was diagnosed with COVID-19.


Voice actor Junya Enoki, who is best known for his role as Yuji Itadori in the hit shonen anime series Jujutsu Kaisen, tested positive for COVID-19.


Enoki's affiliated talent management agency, Atomic Monkey, announced that the voice actor was diagnosed with the notorious respiratory virus. Enoki reportedly sought out medical assistance when he began to feel unwell sometime before Sept. 1. A PCR test was conducted shortly after, and the results confirmed he had contracted COVID, though Atomic Monkey notably did not reveal the severity of the voice actor's symptoms. The agency additionally reported Enoki will be stepping back from his work to focus on his health for the foreseeable future and will remain in the care of medical professionals while he recuperates.


The agency also stated Enoki will no longer attend two scheduled events due to his illness, namely the "Chikahiro Kobayashi Birthday Fan Meeting 2023" and the Alice and Therese's Illusion Factory movie preview and stage greetings. Atomic Monkey apologized to the voice actor's fans and asked for their understanding, with the agency stating that it intended to prioritize the health of its talents, employees and customers.


What's Next for Jujutsu Kaisen?


As for Enoki, the voice actor similarly posted on his X, formerly known as Twitter, account that he planned on taking a break after his diagnosis and apologized for possibly disappointing some of his followers. Online users were quick to show their support for Enoki, with many fans asking him to focus on his health for the time being. Several commentators additionally stated they hoped he was taking care of himself and that they eagerly awaited his return to Jujutsu Kaisen. They wished Enoki a speedy recovery and encouraged the voice actor to take a break from his heavy workload.


While Yuji's voice actor might be taking a brief hiatus, the Jujutsu Kaisen anime is continuing its scheduled run. The second half of Season 2 will notably cover one of the most anticipated events from mangaka Gege Akutami's original manga series, the Shibuya Incident arc, wherein a massive battle between curses and sorcerers will break out in the middle of one of Tokyo's most iconic locales.
