Rick and Morty Season 7 Won't Feature Any Mid-Season Breaks

While previous seasons of Rick and Morty may have opted to take a hiatus between episodes, the upcoming Season 7 will stick to a traditional schedule.

Fans of Rick and Morty need not worry about the show's upcoming Season 7 taking a break midway through.

Per The Wrap, Adult Swim has confirmed that the next installment in the hit animated series will stick to a traditional release schedule rather than splitting up the episodes into separate volumes. The reason for sticking to a standardized released model has yet to be confirmed but it marks a change of pace for Rick and Morty, which has traditionally incorporated both brief and lengthy hiatus periods in the middle of a season.

The normalized slate isn't the only change Rick and Morty fans can expect in Season 7. The show's co-creator and star Justin Roiland, who lent his voice to both leading characters, is no longer part of the show after he was hit with domestic violence allegations and claims of workplace harassment. Despite this departure, producer Steven Levy is confident that the show can grow beyond Roiland and deliver a season that may even be one of the best yet. The work that we’re doing across the board has only gotten better. When the new season comes out, we’ll focus on how amazing it all turned out. We hope the fans will realize that this is the same old show, maybe even better!" Levy said.

Levy also explained that despite the quality of Season 7, getting to work on the latest batch of episodes was difficult for the entire creative team. "We had a rug pulled from underneath us," he said. "The only people we could lean on were each other. It would have been very easy to just say, 'I'm done and I don’t want to do anything with this show anymore.' But our crew said, 'No, we're not going to let one person drag down all of our hard work.' This show is created by this team — this family of incredibly hardworking people, and we are going to push through and show the world that we aren’t going to miss a beat."

It's currently unknown how Rick and Morty will explain the recasting of its protagonists but it may look to one of Roiland's other shows for inspiration. Solar Opposites, which also starred the actor in a leading role, used a "voice fixing ray" to mend the vocal cords of Roiland's character Corvo, accidentally granting him the voice of Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens. It remains to be seen whether Rick and Morty will incorporate a similar method.

Rick and Morty Season 7 premieres on Oct. 15 on Adult Swim.
